Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a Data Analyst – Solution Architecture Support in the Virginia Beach area. You will analyze business processes, data structures, and interfaces to guide modernization efforts across multiple teams and vendors.

The Data Analyst – Solution Architecture Support

Job Family: Data Science & Analysis Travel Required: Up to 10% Clearance Required: Ability to Obtain Public Trust

What You Will Do:
  • Analyze business processes, data structures, conceptual and logical data models, system interfaces, reporting needs, and modernization dependencies to inform solution design and technical execution across multiple workstreams, vendors, and Scrum teams.
  • Support the Solution Architect by gathering, analyzing, validating, modeling, and documenting data and process information needed to guide modernization decisions.
  • Develop clear analysis artifacts, data mappings, data model views, entity relationship summaries, interface inventories, workflow summaries, decision support materials, and stakeholder‑ready documentation.
  • Analyze current‑state processes, data flows, system interfaces, reporting needs, and modernization dependencies across legacy and modernized capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain data mapping artifacts, conceptual and logical data model views, entity relationship summaries, interface inventories, source‑to‑target documentation, process flows, dependency logs, and analysis summaries that inform architecture and implementation decisions.
  • Gather and validate business, data, and reporting requirements from Product Owners, Federal stakeholders, vendors, subject matter experts, and delivery teams.
  • Analyze data quality, data lineage, system‑of‑record considerations, duplicate data paths, synchronization needs, data model alignment, and integration impacts to support modernization planning.
  • Support development and validation of conceptual, logical, and implementation‑oriented data models by identifying key entities, relationships, attributes, business rules, data domains, and model impacts across legacy and modernized capabilities.
  • Translate complex business and technical information into clear documentation, visuals, decision summaries, briefing materials, and stakeholder‑ready analysis products.
  • Support architecture review, design discussions, trade‑off analysis, release readiness reviews, and dependency management by preparing evidence‑based analysis and concise summaries.
  • Coordinate with engineering, testing, DevSecOps, data, security, and vendor teams to confirm assumptions, clarify data needs, document open questions, and track follow‑up actions.
  • Assist with analysis of API‑enabled services, shared platform capabilities, data exchange patterns, workflow automation, interoperability needs, and legacy coexistence considerations.
  • Identify and communicate risks, gaps, inconsistencies, and dependencies related to data, interfaces, workflows, requirements, reporting, testing, and operational transition planning.
  • Maintain organized analysis repositories, working documents, traceability materials, and status inputs to support coordinated modernization execution and leadership visibility.
What You Will Need:
  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "PUBLIC TRUST"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.
  • Candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY are preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of THREE (3) years of experience in data analysis, business analysis, systems analysis, requirements analysis, reporting, data governance, systems integration support, or related roles.
  • Experience analyzing data structures, conceptual and logical data models, business processes, system interfaces, reporting requirements, source‑to‑target mappings, data quality issues, or workflow dependencies.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), agile delivery concepts, requirements traceability, data analysis practices, and collaboration across technical and business teams.
  • Ability to collect, interpret, validate, and document data and process information from multiple sources, stakeholders, systems, and delivery teams.
  • Ability to develop clear analysis artifacts such as data mappings, data model views, entity relationship summaries, process flows, interface inventories, requirements summaries, dependency trackers, gap analyses, and decision support materials.
  • Familiarity with APIs, data exchange concepts, relational databases, conceptual and logical data modeling, reporting tools, query logic, data lineage, system‑of‑record concepts, and interoperability across legacy and modernized systems.
  • Experience working with cross‑functional teams, including product, engineering, testing, architecture, security, data, vendor, and stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to identify and communicate risks, gaps, assumptions, inconsistencies, and dependencies in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio or similar diagramming tools, and collaboration platforms used to document and manage analysis work.
  • Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, organization, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills with a team‑first mindset and solution‑oriented approach.
  • Ability to translate detailed analysis into clear narratives, visuals, summaries, and recommendations for technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Self‑motivated, adaptable, and able to operate effectively in fast‑paced, dynamic environments with guidance from the Solution Architect and program leadership.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
  • Experience supporting federal or government IT programs involving grants management, legacy system modernization, shared services, interoperability, cloud adoption, data governance, or phased capability delivery.
  • Experience supporting solution architecture, enterprise architecture, data architecture, application modernization, or systems integration teams.
  • Understanding of AWS data architectures and cloud security principles, including secure data storage, data lifecycle management, encryption, identity and access management (IAM), key management (AWS KMS), and governance best practices to support secure, scalable, and compliant cloud solutions.
  • Familiarity with SQL, data profiling, reporting dashboards, data visualization, Power BI, Tableau, or similar analysis and reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with API documentation, interface control documents, canonical data models, conceptual and logical data models, entity relationship diagrams, data dictionaries, data catalogs, or metadata management practices.
  • Experience working in agile delivery environments using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, SharePoint, or similar collaboration and work management platforms.
  • Data, agile, business analysis, cloud, or analytics certification preferred, such as CBAP, PMI‑PBA, Certified ScrumMaster, SAFe, AWS Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst, or similar credentials.
  • Experience using generative AI and AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., Amazon Q, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Amazon Bedrock, or similar) to accelerate data analysis, SQL generation, documentation, workflow automation, requirements analysis, and technical problem solving.

The annual salary range for this position is $85,000.00-$141,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
