Amalgamated Bank of NY is seeking a Data Analyst to support the Banking & Investments Division with strategic operational analytics and business performance reporting. This hybrid role helps translate business processes into reporting and project requirements while partnering closely with finance and technology teams.
Role overview
The position focuses on building visibility into business health, growth trends, client activity, and operational performance. The analyst will define and monitor KPIs and operational metrics, then use that data to produce executive-level analytics and narratives for internal leadership and external stakeholders, including investor-facing materials.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reporting, and analytics to track business health, growth trends, client activity, and operational performance.
- Define and track KPIs, operational metrics, and growth drivers across the business line.
- Partner with FP&A to align business metrics with financial reporting and forecasting processes.
- Act as a subject matter expert on business processes, workflows, and procedures across revenue lines of business.
- Translate business needs into clear data requirements, system requirements, and project documentation for technology and integration initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Digital Transformation and Tech Integration team on system enhancements, data integrations, and automation initiatives.
- Support preparation of materials for quarterly earnings calls, investor presentations, and Board updates.
- Produce executive-level analytics, narratives, and insights to inform senior leadership and external stakeholders.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy between operational data, financial results, and public disclosures.
- Maintain data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across reporting platforms and tools.
- Document data definitions, methodologies, and reporting standards to improve institutional knowledge and auditability.
Requirements
- Prior experience in analytics, financial services operations, or business intelligence preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3-8 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, financial services operations, consulting, or related roles (minimum 3 years required).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights.
- Experience working cross-functionally with finance and technology teams.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including experience preparing materials for senior stakeholders.
- Ability to work and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with timely responsiveness.
