Job summary

The Association For Institutional Research seeks a data analyst to provide accurate data and reports to university departments, supporting student success and operational efficiency across academic, student support, and administrative areas.

You will write scripts, collaborate with university offices, and develop dashboards to enable data-driven decisions and transparent reporting to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of experience in a database or systems analyst related field.
  • Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices.
  • Extensive experience in data analysis using R, SPSS, SAS, Tableau, Power BI or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate completion of state and federal data reports (e.g., Lousiana Board of Regents, IPEDS).
  • Respond to internal and external ad hoc requests for university data.
  • Support data needs for assessment, program review, planning, accreditation.
  • Research, analyze, and interpret university data and trends to support decision-making.
  • Develop dashboards and other online data tools to improve data accessibility.

Job Duties

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide accurate data and reports to university departments as needed to enhance student success and operational efficiency across academic, student support and administrative areas.

  • Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of university applications as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with IET Services and other university offices to facilitate strong data governance and ensure the integrity of data in the university's data systems.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation (e.g. data definitions, code documentation, standard operating procedures, etc) for data, reports and projects.
  • Coordinate the completion of required state and federal data reports, including but not limited to submissions to the Louisiana Board of Regents, National Student Clearinghouse, and IPEDS.
  • Respond to internal and external ad hoc requests for university data.
  • Support data needs for ongoing assessment, program review, strategic planning, accreditation and related activities.
  • Research, analyze, and interpret university data and trends to support data-driven decision-making across university stakeholders.
  • Develop dashboards and other online data tools to enhance data accessibility across university stakeholders.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Decision Science/Analytics, Business Administration, Applied Statistics, or a related field, or a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a database or systems analyst related field, preferably in higher education. Candidates with 3-5 years of experience in Institutional Research in higher education are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices.
  • Extensive experience in data analysis using tools such as R, SPSS, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI, and/or other similar data tools is required.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in programming and scripting languages such as: Microsoft SQL, Python, and/or other similar languages is required.
  • Ability to design, develop, and manage relational database systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with ERP, SIS, and CRM system programming and reporting preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Extreme attention to detail is required.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
