  • Experience extracting data from Enterprise Planning Systems (ERPs).
  • Experience working with data visualization tools (Tableau, Informer Analytics, Power BI) and developing dashboards/reports to inform data‑decision making.

Under limited supervision, the Data Analyst oversees the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to support research, planning, assessment, and evidence-based decision-making. This role ensures data accessibility through interactive reporting and dashboards, manages the preparation of semester and annual reports, and ensures compliance with state and federal reporting. Additionally, the data analyst delivers exceptional customer service by collaborating with faculty and staff across academic and administrative areas of the College, clarifying data needs, and ensuring a positive and efficient data‑user experience.

Anticipated Hiring Range $53,692 - $67,115

What You'll Do
  • Extracts, transforms, and summarizes raw data from the College’s database and information systems to support assessment, evaluation, planning, and reporting.
  • Completes and presents scheduled and annual data requests.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to determine and clarify data and research needs.
  • Supports data-informed decisions by analyzing and transforming data into actionable insights, preparing written, oral, and visual reports to communicate key information concisely and effectively.
  • Manages reporting at institutional, local, state, and federal levels, ensuring data are accurate and appropriate.
  • Leads institutional research by collecting and utilizing quantitative and qualitative data, applying descriptive and inferential statistics, when applicable.
  • Designs and maintains dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Informer, Power BI) to provide real-time updates on the College’s key performance indicators and metrics.
  • Provides data analysis for faculty and staff to track progress toward performance and outcome measures.
  • Develops and provides professional development on data literacy and use (e.g., visual analytics training for end users).
  • Documents project processes, sources, and techniques to ensure consistency and reproducibility for future data collection and reporting.
  • Supports college-wide planning and effectiveness efforts; works on institutional accreditation and improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Manages a variety of diverse projects, attending to details, accuracy, and deadlines.
  • Maintains necessary levels of confidentiality and security of all institutional and system data extracted.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Educational Research, Data Science, Statistics, Social Sciences, Computer Sciences, Public Administration or related field
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of work experience in higher education research and planning, with working knowledge of databases and research techniques
  • Experience in data collection, analysis and reporting
  • Experience extracting data from Enterprise Planning Systems (ERPs)
  • Experience working with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Informer Analytics, Power BI) and working knowledge of developing dashboards and reports to inform data‑decision making

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in one of the disciplines listed above or related field
  • North Carolina Community College System experience
Additional Information

Work Environment: Office environment; Frequent interactions across academic and administrative divisions and collaborates with stakeholders, including college administrators, staff, faculty and external agencies. This position also involves managing sensitive institutional data and adhering to FERPA and data security standards while working in a fast‑paced environment with multiple deadlines related to reporting cycles and other institutional priorities

Normal Working Hours: Standard schedule, Monday – Friday; occasional flexibility during peak reporting periods, accreditation cycles and other institutional deadlines
