Job summary

Michigan Medicine is seeking a Data and AI Engineer to design, build, and maintain data systems, pipelines, and AI integrations powering research and clinical tools across the organization.

You will work at the intersection of data engineering and applied AI, managing OpenShift/Kubernetes infrastructure, integrating Epic EHR/MiChart data, and supporting backend APIs and real-time data services in a hybrid/remote-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Biomedical Informatics, or a related field.
• 3-7 years in AI tools/systems development and deployment, with healthcare experience preferred.
• Experience with Epic MiChart integrations and HL7/FHIR interoperability.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and map Epic MiChart data for analytics and research use.
• Design and maintain real-time and batch healthcare data integrations (HL7 ADT, radiology, lab).
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure robust data schemas and scalable data access.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Biomedical Informatics, or a related field
