Position Summary
The Direct Access Procedure Screening License Practical Nurse is responsible for obtaining all pre-procedure assessments for all patients at Borland Groover for Direct Access Colonoscopy Referrals. At the completion of the assessment, the DAP LPN will be responsible for identifying if any consults are required, and all problem resolution is completed per policy. The DAP LPN is also responsible for reviewing pre-procedure documentation and delivering pre-procedure education.
Essential Job Functions
- Answer incoming phone calls from patients for Direct Access Procedure Appointments.
- Review the patient's medical history (including medical, surgical, and family history; allergies, and current medications) and document it in EHR.
- Review Referrals and H&P in the patient’s chart to ensure proper documentation is on file.
- Reschedule procedure appointments as needed.
- Contact Central Scheduling, ASC, and Performing Physician’s office if an Office Visit is necessary prior to the procedure.
- Review procedure preparation guidance with patient
- Mail/Send patient appointment reminders and prep instruction to patients.
- Send prescription for prep to the pharmacy, if necessary
- Manage central scheduling work logs for DAP Appointments
- Taking messages and documenting them in the patient’s chart
- Act as a clinical liaison for the Central Scheduling Team
- Other clerical/clinical duties assigned.
- This job requires access to Personal Health Information (PHI), HIPAA training is required, and HIPAA compliance is expected.
- Must follow the organization’s Code of Conduct
- Must participate in the Compliance Program Initiatives and reporting and Compliance Issues

Education And Experience
- Must have 1 year of experience working with patients in either a hospital or office setting.
- Previous Customer Service and/or Call Center experience is preferred, but not required.
- Must have previous experience in Patient Pre-Screening for procedures/surgery.
- Must have an active Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN) License in the State of Florida.
- Must possess BLS certification or have the ability to obtain certification within 90 days
- Must maintain HIPAA compliance when accessing Personal Health Information (PHI).
- Must be able to perform physical duties when necessary.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and work efficiently as part of a team.
- Previous GI experience preferred
