Job summary

thyssenkrupp Forged Technologies in Danville, IL, seeks a Maintenance Engineer to keep the production line running smoothly and coordinate preventative maintenance planning. You will communicate with line operators, reference manuals and sources for repairs, support major refurbishments, plan shutdowns, assign PMs, and liaise with contractors while ensuring 5S standards and continuous improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field is preferred.
• 6-10 years of technical manufacturing experience is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and lubrication.
• Basic knowledge of robotics, electrics and electronics.
• Understanding of machine operation and controls.
• Manual tool operation skills and adaptability to new equipment.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with line operators regarding technical assistance.
• Use operating manuals and sources to determine repair actions.
• Provide assistance during major repairs.
• Plan for future shutdowns and major repairs.
• Develop preventative maintenance plans.
• Address urgent maintenance issues as they arise.
• Make physical repairs as needed.
• Coordinate with contractors and assist them, checking work.
• Compile downtime reports with action plans to increase uptime.
• Provide expert advice without formal supervisory responsibility.
• Plan work and establish priorities; send end-of-shift reports.
• Assign PMs and work orders to maintenance staff.
• Maintain 5S standards in maintenance areas and facility-wide.
• Drive continuous improvements of processes and equipment.

Job description

thyssenkrupp integrated its Forging & Machining and Undercarriage businesses to start the new business unit Forged Technologies. With roughly 7,000 employees at 18 production sites in seven different countries, thyssenkrupp Forged Technologies has sales of over one billion euros and operates over 50 forging press lines and more than 150 machining and assembly lines in seven countries. The product portfolio includes undercarriage systems for heavy machinery as well as crankshafts, connecting rods, pistons, chassis products, transmission systems and rotor shafts for the automotive industry.

The Maintenance Engineer reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for addressing and assisting in any maintenance issues, to ensure smooth operation of the production line.

Salary: $75,000 - $85,000

Specifics on the job:

• Communicate with line operators regarding technical assistance

• Provide assistance during major repairs
• Plan for future shut-downs and major repairs
• Develop preventative maintenance plans
• Address any urgent maintenance issues

• Sends out end of shift report, communicates with the off shift Engineers
• Assigns PM and Work orders to Maintenance associates
• Maintains 5S standards in the facility as well as specific to maintenance areas
• Continuous Improvements of process and equipment

Qualifications:

• Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or Technology related field, or 6-10 years of experience in a technical field in a manufacturing environment
• At least 2 years of experience in maintenance in a manufacturing setting
• Advanced knowledge in mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics and lubrication
• Basic knowledge in robotics, electrics and electronics
• General understanding of how a machine functions and operates
• Manual skills to operate tools and equipment when necessary
• Ability to adapt to changing technologies and learn functionality of new equipment and systems
• Knowledge of machine controls and operation
• Manual skills to operate tools and equipment when necessary
