Overview

PUC Schools - Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools is comprised of a non-profit network of public charter schools designed to significantly increase high school graduation rates, college entrance, and college graduation rates for underserved students in North-East Los Angeles, and the North-East San Fernando Valley. Our mission is to develop and manage high-quality charter schools in densely populated urban communities with overcrowded and low-achieving schools, creating school programs and cultures that promote college graduation for all students. We uplift and revitalize communities through the success of our students and through inspiring them to uplift our communities now and forever and through the development of educational and other supportive partnerships.

This role is with Partnership to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools. The Team Member we are searching for is a dedicated teacher who belives in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC Schools and demonstrates this through leadership, reflection, school culture, and collaboration to ensure student success.

Base pay range

$65,000.00/yr - $115,669.00/yr

What you will do
  • Foster a safe and nurturing learning environment
  • Build professional knowledge
  • Organize classroom systems/procedures and manage student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged in learning
  • Develop and maintain IATs (lesson plans)
  • Establish an environment where students are excited about learning and preparing for college
  • Develop lesson plans according to the California state standards
  • Prepare lesson plans for substitute teachers
  • Build strong relationships with students and parents
  • Communicate with parents/guardians on a weekly basis
  • Identify students’ areas for improvement and collaborate with the student, family, and internal resources to suggest options for improvement
  • Provide continual assessment of student progress, maintain student records and portfolios, and complete assigned paperwork in provided time frames
  • Conduct both student and teacher-led parent conferences
  • Collaborate with the Inclusion Specialist to meet the needs of all students
  • Attend and participate in Academic Success Team, Parent/Teacher Advisory Council, and other school-based meetings and activities
  • Perform disseminated leadership duties
  • Attend and implement professional development training throughout and beyond the school year
  • Demonstrate support and knowledge of the school's goals and mission
  • Detail-oriented when tracking students' grades, attendance, etc.
  • Work with the Principal and Assistant Principal to ensure teaching methods are directed toward meeting and surpassing the standards
  • Attend and participate in school-based meetings and activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Possession of a valid Preliminary or Clear Single Subject or Multiple Subject Credential OR
  • University Internship Credential eligible (Intern eligibility letter required) OR
  • Qualification for a permit if the applicant does not possess a credential is required. PUC Schools can further advise on qualifications after an application has been submitted

Experience:

  • Solid knowledge of the subject matter, including California State Standards and subject-specific frameworks and assessments

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of diversity in society, including diverse abilities, culture, language, ethnicity, and
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Able to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data

Physical requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasional kneeling, climbing, reaching with hands and arms above shoulder level, lifting up to 30 pounds; ability to bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below. Personal protective equipment may be required for certain tasks.
