The Dance Program of the School of Theatre & Dance at the Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts is now accepting applications for a nine-month, part-time, post-graduate, Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts Scholar in Residence in Dance for the 2027-2028 academic year.

The Scholar is required to be in residence in Houston, TX with a terminal degree in hand at the start of the fellowship (MFA or PhD) in Dance or a related field. The teaching load is 1/1 with a salary of $45,000 annually.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree required at start of fellowship.
• Interdisciplinary research interests across disciplines encouraged.
• Choreography and dance practice are core competencies.
• Teaching a 1/1 load with salary in place for the duration of the residency.

Responsibilities

• Provide original choreography for the spring concert.
• Create and execute a collaborative event, research, exhibition or performance with the cohort.
• Attend monthly meetings during the academic year with the Mitchell Center and Dance program.
• Attend Mitchell Center and Dance program events and serve as an ambassador.
