Job summary

YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a part-time Dance Instructor in Sumner, WA, to lead energetic classes for diverse ages. You will create engaging lesson plans, demonstrate proper technique, and motivate students while upholding YMCA values.

Qualifications include 16+ years old, 5+ years dance training, and 1–2 years teaching experience. The role requires safety awareness, background checks, and ability to work within our inclusive community.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 or older.
• 5+ years formal dance training or comparable experience.
• 1-2 years as a Dance teacher or teaching assistant (preferred).
• Positive attitude with diverse populations.
• Ability to teach preschool and beginner-level dance; multiple disciplines preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead dance technique classes and demonstrations.
• Create lesson plans aligning with YMCA curricula and class ages.
• Choreograph dances for recitals and YMCA events.
• Communicate student progress to youth/arts director and members.
• Attend staff trainings and meetings as required.
• Support campaign goals by telling the Y story.
