Dance Faculty – Saturday Ballet

About ALDEN MOVES

At ALDEN MOVES, we invite students to adventure into dance—to discover the freedom of movement, the joy of creation, and the artistry of expression. Rooted in classical training and propelled by contemporary exploration, we're reexamining and reinventing the institutional mold to move dance forward—and to show that dance, at its core, is more inclusive than exclusive.

About the Position

We're seeking a thoughtful, motivated, and inspiring ballet educator to join our faculty for the 2026–2027 school year.

This is more than just a gig—it's a chance to grow as an educator, artist, and leader within a mission-driven creative community. As a member of our faculty, you'll help dancers build not only strong technique, but confidence, artistry, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for dance.

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with developing dancers across multiple age groups and values being part of a collaborative faculty invested in each student's journey.

Saturday Teaching Schedule

10:30–11:30am
Ballet IA/IIB (ages 8+)

11:45am–1:15pm
Senior Company B Ballet
(Ages 12+ studying two or more classes per week and having completed at least one year of Ballet II)

Beginning in the spring semester, there is the possibility of an additional class immediately following the current schedule. While this class has not yet been confirmed, applicants should be able to remain flexible should it be added.

Responsibilities

You'll:

Teach engaging, age-appropriate ballet classes rooted in strong classical technique.

Foster healthy alignment, musicality, artistry, and joy in movement.

Collaborate with faculty to ensure consistency across the curriculum.

Communicate professionally with families and studio leadership.

Contribute to a supportive, team-oriented studio culture.

Invest in students as people as much as dancers.

Performance & Production Commitments

Performance is an important part of the educational experience at ALDEN MOVES. Faculty members are expected to participate fully in our annual productions and rehearsals.

This includes:

Saturday rehearsals from late March through our June performance. Each class you teach will be scheduled for one rehearsal outside of regular class time. While you will not be needed every weekend, you should remain as flexible as possible until the rehearsal schedule is finalized in March. Rehearsals are scheduled around student, faculty, and studio availability and may extend until 4:30pm, with a 30–60 minute break between teaching and rehearsals.

Availability for our annual Nutcracker, Masters of Style end-of-year performance, and the spacing rehearsals for each production. Faculty are expected to remain available from staff call through strike. Nutcracker is held each December, and Masters of Style takes place each June. Exact dates depend on venue availability and are typically finalized between September (Nutcracker) and early spring (Masters of Style).

Performance-related responsibilities are compensated at the administrative rate. (Faculty performing in Nutcracker are compensated under a separate structure that includes additional downtime.)

Professional Development & Faculty Collaboration

Our faculty are artists, educators, and lifelong learners.

Faculty members are expected to participate in:

Parent Nights (typically once each semester)

Semester faculty kick-offs

Continuing education workshops and guest presentations

Occasional virtual faculty meetings and individual check-ins

Current anticipated faculty kick-offs are:

Thursday, September 10 (please reserve approximately six hours)

Tuesday, January 5 (please reserve approximately four hours)

Additional workshops are typically 2–2½ hours and scheduled based on faculty availability.

Occasional virtual faculty meetings are generally one hour, while individual check-ins are approximately thirty minutes.

Professional development, meetings, and administrative responsibilities are compensated at the administrative rate.

You Are

An experienced ballet educator who enjoys teaching children and teens.

Passionate about building beautiful technique through thoughtful, encouraging instruction.

Organized, punctual, and dependable.

An excellent communicator with students, parents, and colleagues.

Comfortable working as part of a collaborative faculty.

Invested in the success of ALDEN MOVES as a whole.

Interested in growing professionally alongside a team committed to continually improving dance education.

Teaching: $32–35/hour, commensurate with experience

Administrative, rehearsal, meeting, and professional development hours are compensated at up to $20/hour
