Job summary
Maranatha High School in Pasadena, CA is seeking an experienced teacher to deliver course content, guide student learning and assess achievement. You will create lessons, maintain curriculum guides and communicate progress to parents, with a focus on Christian values in a college-preparatory setting.

The teacher is the primary person in the classroom to present instruction of course content, facilitate learning opportunities and assess student participation and achievement. Teachers are a critical component of the success of Maranatha High School and each individual student, and are expected to comply with the job duties and expectations set forth below or as assigned by School Administration from time to time.
As a Christian individual, employed with a Christian institution, Employee acknowledges and affirms that Employee believes, embraces and at all times does and will follow the School’s Statement of Faith, as expressed in Exhibit A attached and incorporated hereto. Employee shall follow Biblical patterns and principles and will manifest by precept and example the highest Christian virtues, values and personal decorum to serve as a Christian role model at all times. Employee understands that continued employment with School is contingent upon this commitment.
General responsibilities include the following duties and expectations. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs. Employee is expected to:

- Attend all required meetings announced by the Senior Administrator over your department.
- Assume other responsibilities as assigned from time to time, including, but not limited to, supervision of traffic flow/parking areas, student breaks/lunches, extra-curricular functions, Chapel/assemblies and general enforcement of campus standards, as assigned by Academic Dean or designee.
- Comply with any duty, obligation, requirement or directive given to Employee by Administration.
- Maintain a positive, collaborative, cooperative, helpful attitude and a team spirit.
- Participate on committees and panels as directed.

- Attend Faculty/Staff Orientation days, all Professional Development days and school training sessions, scheduled events/meetings involving employee’s department, all Admissions events, including, but not limited to: Open House, Closer Look, The Mission 20XX Event, Back-To-School Nights, Graduation, and Baccalaureate and other staff or school functions as assigned.
- Collaborate, interact and work well with others, including students, parents and guardians, staff, faculty, administration, alumni, vendors and any other personnel involved with the School or education process.
- Employees must attend church services in accordance with the MHS Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Statement, and are encouraged to be active in their local churches in addition to regular church attendance.

- Operate standard classroom equipment; prepare and maintain accurate records; and use pertinent software applications (e.g. myMHS, eTextbooks, iTunes, and, education Apps: Turnitin, Albert.io, G Suite), including any updates or new applications as may be provided.
- Perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills as requested or directed in order to meet changing job conditions.
- Reasonable care, maintenance and operation of classroom and workroom technology and equipment, to include copy machines, computers, DVD player, television equipment, iPad, etc.
- Work as part of a team in a manner designed to foster collaboration and cooperation.
- Work with detailed personal or administrative information/data, while maintaining confidentiality.
- Bachelor’s degree in the subject area or a related field is required.
- Master’s degree and or teaching Credential are preferred, but not required.
- Academic Administrators and Teachers must have a current ACSI Administrator or Teacher Certificate or obtain one by the end of your second year of service. Certification must remain current thereafter throughout your employment.
- High school teaching experience is preferred.
- Experience working in a Christian school setting is a plus.
- Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to clearly, professionally and effectively respond to questions from staff, students and parents.
The work environment is indoors in a comfortable temperature-controlled classroom environment and is typically free from dust and hazardous materials.

STATEMENT OF FAITH
The Statement of Faith is the central statement of Maranatha High School in matters of identity and nature, core beliefs that guide our learning, teaching and living. In faithfulness to God, we joyfully and humbly affirm the following Statement of Faith.
Article #1- THE BIBLE
a. We believe that the Bible was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:20-21) and that it is without error in the original writings. The Scriptures are profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness (2Timothy3:16‑17), that the person may be complete in Christ.
b. We believe that the Bible in its entirety, both Old and New Testament (all 66 books), is true, unchangeable, and authoritative and for life and godliness (2Timothy3:15‑17). It is the complete revelation of God’s will for salvation, sufficient for all that He requires us to believe and do, and final in its authority over every domain of knowledge. Thus the entire Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are without error or misstatement in moral and spiritual teaching and record of historical facts and people (John17:17).
c. We believe that the canon (standard) of the Bible is complete and final and that nothing else needs to be added to it.
d. We believe that salvation is a gift from God and comes purely by grace through faith in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians2:8‑10).

Article #2- THE TRINITY
a. We believe that salvation is a gift from God and comes purely by grace through faith in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians2:8‑10).
b. We believe in God the Father who is perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. He eternally exists (Gen.1:1).
c. We believe in Jesus the Son, who was supernaturally conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit (Matthew1:18) and born of Mary, a virgin (Isaiah7:14; Luke1:27). His mission was to come to earth to die for the sins of humanity in order to redeem us. He later resurrected physically (1Corinthians15:12‑17), thus confirming His deity and truth claims.
d. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity who indwells and seals all believers in Christ. He is a person and possesses all the attributes of God. He is God (Ephesians1:13‑14).
e. We believe. The Holy Spiritseals all believers.
Article#3- SALVATION
a. We believe that salvation is a gift from God and comes purely by grace through faith in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians2:8‑10).
b. We believe that those who confess and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved (Romans10:9‑10). This will result in a relationship with God through Christ for eternal life (John3:16;10:10).
c. We believe that the message of the Gospel begins with the bad news that all are sinners apart from Christ, (Romans3:10‑12;3:23;6:23) and that we all desperately need a Savior; The message of the Gospel begins with the ...
d. We believe that the Atonement of Christ, through His death and resurrection, is the means by which God grants forgiveness and salvation. We believe the Atonement is an act of love that reconciles humanity to God, cleanses sin, and grants eternal life.
e. We believe that the moral and spiritually unseen covenant between God and mankind is that when we trust in His sacrifice and content, God will bless the heart of us by spiritually adding ; the (John16:28), receiver of grace, leading to redemption and regenerative bounty.
Article #4- THE CHURCH and CHRIST'S RETURN
a. We believe that the Church consists of all believers in Christ who are a part, locally and universally, through the baptizing of the Spirit of God (1Corinthians12:13). As a result, all believers are a part of the body and bride of Christ.
b. We believe that the person of Jesus Christ will return again bodily and visibly in the unknown future (1 Thessalonians 5:2). This is the glorious and blessed hope of the believer.
This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
