Position: Dance, Arts & Enrichment Instructor

The Dance, Arts & Enrichment Instructor is expected to have a high degree of knowledge and formal training in areas such as Martial Arts, Gymnastics, Synchronized Swimming, Dance, Golf, Tennis, and Birthday Parties. The role involves providing support and encouragement to help students learn specific programs, officiating appropriately for different ages and skill levels, and ensuring safety and cleanliness of the program area in accordance with YMCA standards.

Qualifications:

• Some college education or equivalent
• 3-5 years of specialized sport experience
• Ability to work sensitively with others and demonstrate positive coaching
• Ability to perform activities requiring sustained concentration
• Physical ability to assist participants and develop athletes

Responsibilities:

• Conduct YMCA sports program instruction following YMCA standards
• Ensure adherence to YMCA standards and quality
• Provide a safe learning environment
• Encourage and support staff and participants
• Model and reinforce YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
• Arrive at least 15 minutes early for classes and communicate any conflicts in advance
• Ensure the facility is clean and participants exit safely
• Participate actively as part of the YMCA staff team
• Provide excellent service and communicate rules clearly
• Manage participant behavior collaboratively
• Complete incident reports and other documentation promptly
• Follow schedules and understand the sport skills required
• Use positive support techniques to develop skills
• Attend staff meetings and trainings
• Perform other duties as assigned
