Job summary

GFT is seeking a Dams & Hydraulics Engineering Intern in Greenwood Village, CO (May–August) to support dam and hydraulic projects under experienced engineers. You will gain hands-on design, analysis, and field exposure while learning regulatory criteria and best practices for public safety and infrastructure resilience.

Ideal candidates will be enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil or Mechanical Engineering program, with familiarity in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and GIS.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in ABET-accredited undergraduate or graduate program in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
• Demonstrated interest in dams, hydraulic structures, water resources, or infrastructure resilience through coursework, research, or internships.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical, technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering analyses and design for dam projects and hydraulic structures using software and hand calculations.
• Learn and apply design criteria and regulatory requirements for dam projects.
• Participate in technical meetings and collaborative project teams.
• Assist with field investigations and site visits to evaluate conditions.
• Help prepare technical reports, memoranda, plans, specs, and client presentations.
• Contribute to projects that improve infrastructure resilience and reduce flood risk.
