Zayo Group is seeking a Damage Prevention Manager to lead a regional team focused on preventing damages to its communications infrastructure. This role involves hiring and training a high-performing team, managing locates, and developing relationships with contractors. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in field construction and utility locating.

Zayo is seeking a Damage Prevention Manager to be responsible for the performance of their team and for the goals of their assigned territory.

Job Description
Hire, develop, and retain a high performing team of Damage Prevention Technicians.
Document interactions, site information and utilities in organizational software.
Assign and balance workload across team.
Identify and foster the growth of talent on the team.
Communicate with clients, engineers and management to resolve and prevent outages.
Manage locating to ensure all locates are accurate, completely located, and performed on time according to state laws.
Develop and manage relationships with construction contractors known to be working on projects in each market raising their awareness of the location of our cable plant and make certain they are using best practices to avoid strike damages. This includes private company projects as well as civil infrastructure projects such as road widening, water, sewer, gas, tree trimming etc.
Works closely with Zayo market OSP personnel to understand the status of inflight relocations they are working on and other activities that could represent risk to the cable plant as well as strike damage documentation.
Works closely with damage strike cost recovery personnel OSP and Finance to ensure maximum recovery from 3rd party construction parties and locating vendor.
Works closely with tools development personnel and other State Damage Prevention Manager to recommend feature enhancements and develop preventive/predictive best practices.
Provides training and development of Damage Prevention Technician to maximize their effectiveness in use of tools, OSP inspection skills, strike damage documentation and other required duties.
Identify, develop, and drive improvements to processes and procedures utilizing root cause analysis.
Interview and identify candidates for the Damage Prevention team.
Daily review of the Damage Prevention Technician hand-off report to ensure that dispatches, tasks, and maintenance projects are consistently completed on time.
Administer performance reviews.
The Manager is required to be on call and/or work various shifts (such as weekends and/or evenings.)
Travel as needed.
Work outdoors in various environments, weather conditions, temperatures, exposed to local flora and fauna.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; required.
Bachelors degree in engineering or construction or similar field or equivalent work experience required.
Telecom training, required. OSHA or other Safety Certifications, required.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in field construction tasks.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience leading a team either formally or informally.
Previous experience in site development, underground installations, utility locating, fiber optic cable builds are required.
Estimated Base Salary Range: $89,320 - $127,600 USD/annually

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.
Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.
