Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of telecom construction processes including fiber optic, underground and overhead infrastructure.
  • Texas 811 knowledge.
  • Experience in utilities, construction, safety, locating, or damage prevention preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as required.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate active and past damages.
  • Create and deliver a detailed report on damage investigations.
  • Be the liaison between field employees and safety team, assuring best practices are communicated and followed.
  • Document, track, and review claims/damages with photos, notes, and diagrams.
  • Work with Claims Division to identify hot spots and assist in resolutions.
  • Respond to damage claims in a timely manner and coordinate with safety and construction teams.
  • Identify root causes to prevent recurrence.
  • Pinpoint if damage was preventable or not.
  • Assist with locating utilities when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Overview

About this Role We are seeking a results driven leader to serve in a combined role supporting Damage Prevention and Damage Investigation initiatives within the telecommunications construction sector. The Damage Prevention/Utility Investigator plays a vital role in protecting critical infrastructure, preventing safety incidents, reducing service outages, and promoting safe excavation practices within the community. This role supports public safety, service reliability, and regulatory compliance by working closely with utilities, contractors, municipalities, and one-call systems.

What Youinish Do
  • Investigate active and past damages.
  • Create and deliver a detailed report on damage investigations.
  • Be the liaison between field employees and safety team, assuring best practices are being communicated and followed for damage investigation/prevention techniques by assisting as needed.
  • Document, track, and review claims/damages assigned to you. Saving all necessary information, including drafting a final report.
  • Work closely with Claims Division to identify hot spots and assist in finding resolutions on pending claims/damages when needed.
  • Respond to damage claims in a timely manner to gather necessary information and work closely with the safety and construction team on site.
  • Accurately document damages/claims with photos, notes, diagrams, etc.
  • Identify the root cause of the damage in efforts to prevent recurrence.
  • Pinpoint if damage was preventable or non-preventable.
  • Assist with locating utilities when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
  • Field-based work with exposure to construction sites.
  • Walking uneven terrain, lifting equipment, and entering confined or controlled areas.
  • Combination of field investigations and office/reporting work.
Qualifications

What You'll Bring

  • Strong understanding of telecom construction processes including fiber optic, underground and overhead infrastructure
  • Texas 811 knowledge
  • Experience in utilities, construction, safety, locating, or damage prevention preferred
  • Valid drivericense and ability to travel to job sites as required
