Job summary

The Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) is seeking a Dam Safety Engineer (Hydrology & Hydraulics Focus) to join the Engineering Section. The role provides dam safety analyses, regulatory oversight, and civil design support for jurisdictional structures.

Ideal candidates hold a B.S. in Civil Engineering, with 5+ years in dam safety; MS/PhD preferred. Remote work within Arizona is possible, with at least two days on-site weekly.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering required; professionalEngineering licensure preferred.
  • MS/Ph.D. in Civil/Geotechnical/Water Resources/Structural Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience in dam safety or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for dam safety projects and regulatory oversight.
  • Contribute to hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for dams.
  • Assist with civil design reviews, construction management, and dam safety inspections.
  • Represent the agency in meetings with designers, owners, and contractors.
