Job summary

RGP is seeking an Interim SOX Auditor to support SOX 404 compliance across a large, publicly traded organization. The role focuses on testing ICFR, documenting results, and remediation coordination in a Dallas-based, onsite setting.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in SOX compliance or related audits, with CPA/CIA and COSO knowledge. This contract role offers 4 onsite days weekly and a 3–6 month duration at a competitive rate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in SOX compliance, internal audit, public accounting, financial controls, or related audit functions.
• CPA, CIA, Big 4/public accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ICFR, SOX, COSO principles and key accounting processes.
• Experience performing walkthroughs, documenting testing results, and identifying control deficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Execute SOX 404 compliance activities across business units, subsidiaries, and corporate functions, ensuring adherence to testing methodologies and timelines.
• Perform control walkthroughs and evaluate design and operating effectiveness of ICFR.
• Conduct SOX testing, assess supporting documentation, identify deficiencies, and prepare audit-ready workpapers.
• Review process narratives, RCMs, control documentation and supporting evidence for accuracy and compliance.
• Partner with control owners and stakeholders to understand processes, assess risks, and validate control effectiveness.
• Support remediation by performing follow-up testing and confirming corrective actions address deficiencies.
• Coordinate with Internal Audit, Finance, Accounting, and external auditors to support audit requests and reviews.
• Monitor testing progress, findings, and communicate status and remediation activities to SOX leadership.
