Job summary

Methodist Medical Group in Dallas, TX, seeks a full-time nocturnal Acute Care Physician Assistant to join the Critical Care team at Methodist Dallas Medical Center, a Level I trauma center. You will care for high-acuity SICU patients, work with residents and attending surgeons, and collaborate with an integrated care team to implement advanced treatment plans.

The role requires at least two years of experience, current BLS/ACLS/ATLS licenses, and proficiency with critical care procedures.

Qualifications

• Must be available to work nights (7p–7a).
• Requires at least 2 years of experience as a Physician Assistant.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications are required.
• Experience assisting with central/arterial line placement, bronchoscopies, resuscitation, CPR, intubations/extubations.

Responsibilities

• Nightly coverage for SICU patients with in-house surgery attending and residents.
• Respond to trauma activations and assist with primary/secondary surveys and care plans.
• Coordinate care with acute care floor patients who may be decompensating.
• Manage patient care including ventilator settings and medication changes.
• Communicate changes in patient conditions to residents/attending physicians.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
• Place orders for tests, labs and procedures.
• Coordinate with Neuro, Ortho, and Medicine teams.
• Conduct thorough physical assessments and medical histories.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests (imaging, labs).
• Educate patients and families about conditions and treatments.
• Maintain accurate medical records per hospital protocols.
• Stay current with evidence-based hospital medicine practices.
