Job summary

Friends of the Children - Dallas seeks a Professional Mentor for its K-5 program to provide one-on-one mentoring and develop sustained, supportive relationships with eight elementary students. The role emphasizes positive adult guidance, life and academic skill development, and active family engagement.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years of experience working/volunteering with children.
• Experience mentoring children facing systemic barriers.

Responsibilities

• Spend time with eight elementary children one-on-one, building loving, long-term relationships.
• Set realistic goals based on each child’s strengths and needs.
• Provide family supports alongside parents/caregivers.
• Teach life and academic skills and provide enrichment activities.
• Document activities and participate in evaluation processes.
• Attend team meetings and contribute to program development.
