Job summary

Glanbia in Brookings, SD is seeking a Production Assistant to receive, inspect, and process raw colostrum, adhere to production schedules, and maintain a clean, safe work environment.

The role requires handling, heating, and staging processes, forklift operation, and consistent quality checks to minimize waste while following safety standards. You will contribute to steady production flow on an 8-10 hour shift.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the production process is required.
• Safety and sanitization knowledge is required.
• Ability to maintain company confidentiality is required.
• Ability to stay on task and alert at all times is required.
• General knowledge of machines, production lines, and processing is required.
• Previous production skills and experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive raw colostrum shipments into the facility.
• Conduct visual inspections of incoming trucks to ensure condition and temperature compliance.
• Unload colostrum into freezer for temporary storage with rotation.
• Stage colostrum pails for thawing for next day’s batch.
• Conduct visual and olfactory quality inspections and reject substandard containers.
• Pour colostrum into vat for heating and pooling of product.
• Clean, dry, and prepare empty pails and lids for shipment back to field employees.
• Take steps to minimize product loss/waste.
• Operate forklift to move product within the plant.
• Maintain a clean working environment at all times.
• Promote and comply with all safety standards to maintain a safe work environment.
• Performs other duties such as bottling and labeling as needed.
