Job Summary:

The Ordering Clerk manages the store's ordering and inventory processes, ensuring accurate stock levels and timely procurement.

Essential Functions:
  1. Place and manage merchandise orders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  2. Verify and track orders from suppliers for completeness and correctness.
  3. Maintain supplier relationships for optimal order fulfillment.
  4. Oversee inventory standards, stock levels, and product rotation.
  5. Verify invoices and maintain inventory control.
  6. Monitor inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts, adjusting orders as needed.
  7. Review DSD deliveries for accuracy and timeliness.
  8. Follow safety protocols, including proper PPE use.
  9. Operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
  10. Report theft, damage, or loss, and take steps to minimize shrinkage.
  11. Report store conditions needing attention.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge:
  • Understanding of inventory systems and procedures.
  • Familiarity with warehouse practices, safety protocols, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of grocery products and categories.
  • Awareness of OSHA and health regulations.
Skills:
  • Ensure accuracy in stock and documentation.
  • Proficiency with inventory software, barcode scanners, and warehouse tech.
  • Effective communication skills.
Abilities:
  • Resolve inventory discrepancies and storage issues.
  • Manage time efficiently during busy periods.
  • Adapt to changing priorities.
Physical Requirements:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds frequently, 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Perform repetitive motions and climb ladders.
  • Communicate effectively and work quickly.
Work Conditions:
  • Varying hours, including weekends, evenings, holidays.
  • Indoor, climate-controlled environment.
  • Work within store sections, including backrooms and exterior areas.
  • Dress code: professional attire, including store-issued or approved clothing.
  • Potential exposure to moving parts and chemicals.
  • Moderate noise levels, with occasional loud periods.
  • Constant interaction with customers and staff.
