Byrne Dairy is seeking a Laboratory Technician for the Dewitt East Syracuse, NY facility. The role focuses on setting up, operating, cleaning, and troubleshooting production equipment per SOPs to support quality testing in a fast-paced dairy environment.

Responsibilities include microbiological testing of milk and products, chemical analyses, sampling with proper custody, and maintaining lab equipment. The position offers full-time hours, with benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• GED or High School Diploma required.
• Associate degree in dairy/food sciences preferred.
• 1–2 years’ experience in a similar food-industry lab preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform microbiological testing on raw milk and dairy products to detect pathogens and perform plate counts.
• Conduct chemical analyses including fat, protein, moisture, pH, and acidity using lab instruments.
• Collect samples from production stages with proper chain of custody and sample integrity.
• Operate and maintain lab equipment like incubators, autoclaves, microscopes, and chromatography systems.
• Document results in LIMS and prepare reports for QA teams and management.
• Investigate product quality issues with root-cause analysis and teamwork.
