Maola Local Dairies in Newport News, VA is seeking a Lab Tech - Flex to join the Quality Control Services team. The role involves monitoring production methods for milk and dairy products, performing standardized tests, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.

The position requires a flexible shift (overtime, weekends, holidays) with an hourly pay rate of $25.50. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, with an associate or BS in Food/Biological Sciences or 2+ years QA/QC

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or international equivalent.
• 2+ years QA/QC in food/biological manufacturing preferred.
• Working knowledge of PC-based systems; MS Word/Excel preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct testing to determine causes for contamination affecting quality, shelf life, flavor and color.
• Test quality of incoming ingredients, including raw milk and formulated products.
• Perform standard microbiological tests as outlined in official methods.
• Perform weight checks on samples and volumetric fills.
• Calibrate thermometers and maintain clean, safe work environment.
• Assist in investigating customer complaints and work with sales to identify root causes.
