Job summary

Bristol Farms is seeking a Dairy/Deli Manager in Santa Monica to lead the Dairy/Deli department, supervise staff, and ensure quality, freshness, and guest satisfaction. You will manage daily operations, training, and stock control while upholding company budgets and price integrity.

The role emphasizes leadership, hospitality, and strong customer service in a fast-paced retail environment, with opportunities for growth within our brand family.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year experience in Dairy/Deli or Grocery is required.
• FLSA status: Non-exempt.

Responsibilities

• Prepares daily schedule and directs activities of Dairy/Deli department employees.
• Assures in-service training for all employees and documents all training.
• Maintains high-profit margins by managing budgets, sales goals, cost of goods, expenses, price changes, and waste (shrink).
• Ensures items in the dairy box are within expiration dates and stock rotates accordingly.
• Sets up displays, stocks shelves and coolers, and maintains price changes and integrity.
• Supervises employees; trains, assigns, and evaluates performance; resolves issues.

Job Title: Dairy/Deli Manager

Department: Dairy/Deli

Reports To: Store Director

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepares daily schedule and directs activities of Dairy/Deli department employees
• Assures in-service training for all employees and documents all training
• Maintains high-profit margin by approved pre-set budgets, which entails, but is not limited to sales goals, cost of goods, expenses, price changes, and waste management (shrink)
• Assures high quality and proper quantity through accurate ordering and receiving
• Assures all items in the dairy box are well within their expiration date
• Rotates stock to assure high quality, fresh merchandise at all times
• Sets up displays and stocks shelves, coolers, counter bins, tables, freezers, containers, or trays with merchandise
• Maintains and cleans shelves, bins, tables, and coolers
• Assures daily price changes are done accurately & completed before store opens; maintaining price integrity at all times
• Monitors pull dates on all Dairy/Deli merchandise
• Examines products bought for resale or received for storage
• Arranges for all equipment to be fixed and cleaned (with the approval of the Store Director.)

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages employees in the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities by company policies and applicable laws. Other responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding employees addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Customer Service Skills

The Dairy/Deli Manager is expected to provide customer service that is extra ordinary and exceeds the expectations of our customers. They are required to follow established policies and guidelines that go beyond simply smiling and greeting customers. Going above and beyond encompasses attitudes, respect, and flexibility. The Dairy/Deli Manager is expected to have a positive “can-do” attitude; treat others with respect; and easily adjust to changes in the workplace.

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or GED required. At least one year of experience in the Dairy/Deli or Grocery Departments is required.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. He or she is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The individual must frequently lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
