Job summary

KIPP North Carolina is seeking substitute teachers to support eight charter schools across Durham, Halifax, Northampton and Mecklenburg counties. Substitutes are called on an as-needed basis with no guaranteed hours, pending school needs and scheduling.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, background check, and a commitment to closing the opportunity gap. Preferred candidates may have an Associate's or Bachelor's degree and Spanish fluency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Pass Criminal Background Check.
• Demonstrated commitment to closing the opportunity gap.
• Zest, grit, professionalism, and a sense of humor.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Spanish fluency and experience in high-performing charter schools are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Execute provided lesson plans.
• Collect student work and provide feedback.
• Ensure agendas, objectives, and homework are displayed for the class.
• Help build a positive school and classroom culture by embodying school values and maintaining relationships with students and staff.
• Demonstrate a growth mindset and give/receive feedback with colleagues.
• Support arrival, recess, and dismissal to create safe spaces for students.
