Job summary

Memorial Health is seeking a PRN Occupational Therapy Assistant II to deliver OT treatment to patients of all ages under the direction of an Occupational Therapist. The role includes student supervision, staff in-services, program development and special projects, aligned with Memorial Health System standards.

Qualified candidates hold an Illinois OT A license, CPR is preferred, and a valid Illinois driver’s license may be required. Minimum 5 years of experience is expected for this PRN role.

Qualifications

  • O.T.A license in the State of Illinois required.
  • CPR Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality patient treatment.
  • Provides accurate and timely documentation as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Provides interdepartmental communication with nursing, social services, and respiratory/occupational therapy teammates.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for COTAs and rehab techs.
  • Participates in department programs and professional development.

Job Overview

The PRN Occupational Therapy Assistant II is responsible for providing Occupational therapy treatment to patients of all ages under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist. All procedures are carried out in accordance with established standards, policies, protocols and guidelines. The assistant participates in COTA student supervision, in servicing of staff, program development and special projects. The role embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Courtesy, Quality, and Efficiency that support our mission, vision and values.

Compensation

USD $25.72 per hour – Max USD $39.86 per hour.

Schedule

PRN

Licensure / Certification / Registry
  • O.T.A license in the State of Illinois required.
  • CPR Certification preferred.
  • If applicable, must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license and be deemed an acceptable driver in accordance with the MHS Fleet Safety Policy (5‑year MVR required).
Qualifications
  • O.T.A license in the State of Illinois required.
  • CPR Certification preferred.
Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience required.

Other Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with patients, families, peers, and other team members as needed for assessment, intervention, and professional development.
  • Must be physically able to lift, support, and move patients 50–100 lbs.
Responsibilities

  • Is active in professional development through utilization of staff expertise and the department’s annual education program.
  • Assists in overseeing inventory of assigned areas.
  • Maintains equipment and environment in safe order and in compliance with Joint Commission infection control standards.
  • Assists with COTA students in combination with Occupational Therapist.
  • Participates in department’s educational and community service activities.
  • Participates in program development or special projects under the auspices of the assigned Occupational Therapist or Program Coordinator.
  • Assists with department projects, planning and problem solving through task force and/or community participation.
  • Demonstrates support for and participates as requested in accomplishing MHS, departmental and team goals and objectives.
  • Performs other related work as required or requested.
