Job summary

Thornton Tomasetti seeks a seasoned D365 Administrator to support and enhance Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O and Project Operations. Lead system configurations, security roles, and global workflows while partnering with finance, IT, and business teams to optimize project accounting and billing processes.

The role emphasizes end-user training, UAT, documentation, and continuous improvement of reporting tools, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and efficient month-end close. Illinois-based role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, information systems, business administration, or related field (or equivalent).
• 10+ years of proven experience as a system administrator or support specialist with Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O and Project Operations; exposure to Dynamics 365 Sales is a plus.
• Strong understanding of project accounting concepts including billing types, cost controls, and revenue recognition.
• Experience supporting sales processes including opportunities, customer lifecycle, and contact management.
• Experience configuring security roles, workflows, and integrations in D365.
• Ability to troubleshoot system issues and work with technical teams to resolve them.
• Familiarity with month-end close processes, billing cycles, and project management practices.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to train and support users of varying technical backgrounds.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
• Relevant certifications in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations or Dynamics 365 Sales are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely end-user support for sales, project management, billing, and accounting functions within Dynamics 365 F&O and Project Operations.
• Serve as the SME for project accounting modules including sales & opportunities, project set up, billing, and collections.
• Administer and configure system settings, workflows, and security roles related to project, sales, and accounting functionality.
• Collaborate with business development, finance, IT, and project management teams to translate business needs into system solutions and reporting tools.
• Support month-end and cycle-close activities by ensuring timely support of project transactions, invoices, and revenue recognition.
• Partner with finance, IT and business stakeholders to plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and enhancements.
• Lead and participate in UAT and regression testing to validate system changes and ensure stability.
• Develop and maintain system documentation, including SOPs, configuration records, and user guides.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting, and automate recurring tasks.
• Train and coach users on effective system use and best practices.
