Job summary

Reliable Sprinkler Co. in Columbia, PA is seeking a full-time Melt Crew member to safely handle molten metal and support daily furnace operations. You will prepare and pour metal, maintain ladles and refractory, and follow strict safety protocols.

The role requires the ability to read and follow detailed instructions, assess equipment condition, and learn locations and duties from supervision. Weekend overtime may be required; reliable safety practices are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be able to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.
• Must be able to discern imperfections, understand quality of repairs of iron holders / ladles.
• Must be able to understand basic addition to tally units per training.
• Must be able to learn job duties and locations from verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Interact with liquid metal at temperatures exceeding 2800 degrees.
• Maintain holders / ladles and perform repairs on the furnace including daily patches and relining the refractory.
• Prepare the pouring ladles for daily use; pouring metal into ladles.
• Take direction from supervisor; understand temperatures; molten iron safety; assist with cleaning/maintaining furnaces ladles.
• Perform all duties in a safe and responsible manner.

Compensation: $24.12 - $26.72 / hour

Description

The Melt Crew is responsible for safely handling molten metal at extremely high temperatures, supporting daily furnace operations, and maintaining related equipment such as ladles and refractory linings. This includes preparing and pouring metal, performing routine repairs, and ensuring all work is conducted with a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and attention to detail.

How You Will Help:

• The melt crew must be able to interact with liquid metal at temperatures exceeding (2800) degrees.
• Responsible for maintaining holders / ladles and at times repairs on the furnace including daily patches, repairs and relining the refractory.
• Preparing the pouring ladles for daily use; pouring metal into ladles.
• Ability to take direction from supervisor; understanding temperatures; molten iron safety; assisting with the cleaning/maintaining furnaces ladles.
• Perform all duties in a safe and responsible manner.
