A leading authority is seeking an Equipment Operator for water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects. Candidates must hold a valid Georgia CDL Class A license and have experience operating complex equipment safely. This role involves operating various machinery and ensuring safety compliance while performing maintenance tasks.

The purpose of this classification is to operate vehicles and equipment used in water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure maintenance and repair. Equipment includes complex vehicles requiring high skill, dexterity, and finesse to operate to exact tolerances.
Operate various equipment, tools, and supplies to complete work assignments, including backhoes, excavators, loaders, vacuum/jet trucks, boring machines, forklifts, graders, trenchers, skid steers, and tractors. Maintain equipment and supplies; handle functions like work order completion and crew safety in the absence of the crew leader.
Drive vehicles over roads and transport equipment and crew members safely, obeying traffic laws and safety guidelines.
Perform excavation activities with precision, including digging, pipe installation, backfilling, and utility location verification.
Load and move materials using dump trucks and other equipment, ensuring capacity limits are respected.
Ensure safety by inspecting equipment, performing light maintenance, and following safety procedures, including traffic control and incident reporting.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and the public to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
This role may require on-call duties and other related tasks. It is considered a Safety Sensitive position.
High school diploma or GED plus one year of equipment operation experience, or equivalent education and experience. This is a Safety Sensitive position.
Valid Georgia CDL Class A license required upon hire; Erosion and Sediment Control certification required within 6 months.
Proficiency in essential functions and understanding of departmental policies and procedures.
