Job Summary
Silfex Inc., a Lam Research Company, is the leading provider of precision silicon components used to make and operate semiconductor tools. We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to support our C shift schedule (6pm–6am ET) and to help maintain equipment such as cutting saws, CZ growers, DSS furnaces, and other critical manufacturing machinery. A $2000 sign‑on bonus is offered.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct periodic safety audits to proactively identify and resolve potential safety issues.
- Ensure follow‑up and closure of action items generated from audits.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the SILFEX Quality Management System, SILFEX Manufacturing System (SMS), and all relevant Quality and Operating Procedures, applying them appropriately.
- Read detailed procedures and work instructions, and develop job proficiency.
- Perform tasks in both group and individual environments, managing time effectively.
- Coordinate repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment with Operations and Engineering.
- Maintain coolant systems and machine filtration systems.
- Determine root cause of failures by observing electrical, mechanical, and controls devices in operation; use precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Execute and assist development of preventive maintenance tasks per procedures.
- Utilize ERP system to track downtime, spare parts, projects, PM, and other tasks.
- Carry out and lead special projects and other appropriate duties as assigned.
- Respond to call‑in during off‑shift and weekends as needed.
- Provide improvement ideas and detailed descriptions of equipment issues to Operations, Supervisor, and Engineering, acting as a liaison.
- Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S; demonstrate ownership of continuous improvement ideas.
- Attend specialized training and cross‑train on all maintenance activities plant wide.
- Display a positive attitude and strong work ethic that reflects the Mission and Core Values of Silfex.
- Model and follow all company safety policies, wearing all required PPE.
- Communicate effectively with employees and other departments, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate College degree in engineering preferred.
- 2–4 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with crystal growing equipment, cooling water systems, electrical systems, PLC control systems preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Strong communication skills with employees and other departments.
- Basic math skills for calculating figures and amounts.
- Problem‑solving ability with several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to work effectively individually and in a team environment.
- Attention to detail; ability to assess drawings and specifications for machines and control systems.
- Ability to perform successfully under minimum supervision and attain credibility with management, staff, and employees.
- Knowledgeable in troubleshooting of CNC equipment desired but not required.
- Experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and fabricating manufacturing equipment desirable.
- Certification for lift truck, scissors lift, and other service and maintenance equipment required or obtainable.
Physical Demands
- Stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
- Walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
- Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally; regularly lift up to 25 pounds.
- Close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus required.
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, wet or humid conditions, and moderate noise levels.
- Ability to work in environments with high magnetic fields.
