Job Details

The Cytotechnologist accurately screens routine GYN and Non-GYN slides for the presence of abnormal cells. The Cytotechnologist works effectively as a team member within the department and with other departments to provide quality service through communication, cooperation, and collaboration.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Assists with Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy and other procedures. Communicates requirements for specimen submission.
  • Prepares and examines non-gynecologic and gynecologic slides for cellular evidence of disease and renders an interpretation of the findings in precise cytopathology terminology.
  • Participates in Quality Control and proficiency testing programs and other required programs to maintain certification.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Cytotechnology, graduate from a CAHEA-accredited school of Cytotechnology.
  • 1-2 years’ previous experience preferred; student training accepted.
  • CT (ASCP) certification or equivalent preferred.
