Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Full time, day shift hours. Start time can range from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., working an 8-hour shift. No weekends required.

Major Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates knowledge of diagnostic principles and interpretation of gynecologic and non-gynecologic evaluations, maintaining screening productivity. Evaluates patient samples for malignant, pre-malignant, infectious, and inflammatory changes.
- Identifies and provides accurate diagnoses within department guidelines. Maintains false negative rates and discrepancies within acceptable ranges set by the Supervisor. Follows screening limits and workload policies per CLIA'88 standards.
- Ensures specimens are properly identified, labeled, data entered, and suitable for testing. Corrects errors in patient data, demographics, and billing. Ensures reports are accurate and timely according to quality assurance protocols.
- Assists in preparing cytology slides from FNA procedures using proper techniques.
- Performs and monitors quality control and assurance for cytology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular testing. Troubleshoots equipment, validates instruments, and tests according to protocols. Recognizes and corrects test or instrument malfunctions.
- Documents quality assurance activities and monitors workflow to meet deadlines.
- Uses computer systems appropriately, reports, and enters results following policies. Refers cases for quality control review and interpretation.
- Supports and improves laboratory procedures, policies, and processes. Ensures compliance with accreditation standards.
- Provides guidance and technical assistance to team members and clients.
- Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific patient care, assessing data reflective of patient status, and providing appropriate care as per policies.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) or Specialist in Cytotechnology (SCT) certification, or
- ASCP BOC Cytotechnologist (CT) certification within 1 year.
Education Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or Cytotechnology
Experience Required:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- At least one year of cytotechnology training approved by CAAHEP.
- Participation in proficiency testing and continuing education (minimum 12 hours).
- Mandatory in-services and department meetings attendance.
- Knowledge of cytologic specimen processing.
- Effective communication, teamwork, computer proficiency, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules and alternate site assignments.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Operate essential equipment, lift up to 10 lbs frequently, up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Sit, stand, walk for most of the day, and sit for extended periods.
- Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation hazards, human blood, body fluids, and tissues. Use appropriate protective gear.
