Job Description

Are you an ASCP certified Cytotechnologist looking to advance your career with a top medical system that supports employee development and wellness? If you seek a day shift opportunity with no weekends or on-call commitments, a Cytotechnologist position at Northwestern Memorial Hospital may be ideal. Our roles offer diverse exposure with advanced technology while maintaining core skills in Cytology.

Sign-On Bonus:

• We are offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus to full-time external Cytotechnologists hired at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The bonus is payable in three installments, with possible repayment terms.

The Cytotechnologist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.

Responsibilities

• Microscopic examination of gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides for infectious, pre-malignant, and malignant diseases.
• Provide friendly, professional demeanor and appearance.
• Communicate effectively with patients and staff, providing accurate information and timely updates.
• Use effective service recovery skills to resolve issues.
• Demonstrate teamwork, respect diverse opinions, and acknowledge contributions.
• Manage work schedule efficiently, complete tasks timely, and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Perform cytology screening using the 2001 Bethesda terminology.
• Adapt to changing needs, prioritize work, and work under stress effectively.
• Ensure patient safety, document accurately, and participate in professional development.
• Maintain regulatory compliance, use industry-specific software, and operate office equipment safely.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science, Biology, Chemistry, or Allied Health, with proof of education.
• Must obtain Cytotechnologist (CT) certification within 1 year of hire.
• Meet federal CLIA high complexity testing requirements.

Preferred

• Liquid-based Cytology training/certification, e.g., ThinPrep.
