Job summary

Somerset Staffing is seeking a Cytology Technologist to examine gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens and issue final diagnoses under pathologist review. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Medical Technology with 1–3 years of cytology experience and Cytologist certification (ASCP or equivalent).

Part-time (20 hours/week) with a base salary range of USD 71,094 to 106,641. Candidate will maintain QC, use Cerner for data entry, and assist with FNA procedures while

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Medical Technology or related field.
• 1–3 years of cytology or related clinical laboratory experience.
• Cytologist certification (ASCP or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Examine and interpret gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens following established laboratory procedures.
• Issue final diagnoses for negative GYN cytology cases; submit non-GYN results for pathologist review.
• Verify specimen acceptability and patient identification throughout processing stages.
• Maintain QC, proficiency testing, and CLIA/DHMH compliance documentation.
• Assist with fine needle aspiration (FNA) procedures and prepare/stain slides.
• Input test requests and results into Cerner accurately while maintaining data integrity.
• Continuously expand technical knowledge through continuing education.
• Communicate effectively with pathologists, nurses, and healthcare professionals to support a collaborative lab culture.

What We re Looking For
