Job summary

VCU Health is seeking a Cytotechnologist in Richmond, VA. The role involves examining gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology cases, rendering preliminary and final interpretations under a pathologist supervision.

Candidates must prepare samples and apply diagnostic criteria accurately, with ASCP CT licensure and Cytotechnologist certification expected within six months. Prefer at least one year of clinical cytotechnology experience, bachelor's in Cytotechnology track, and a possible sign-on

Qualifications

• Certified as a Cytotechnologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology within 6 months of employment in position
• Current CT (ASCP) licensure/certification for continued employment
• One year of clinical work experience as a Cytotechnologist is preferred

• In cytopreparation, makes correct decisions about the handling of samples for optimal preparations.

The Cytotechnologist examines all types of cytology cases microscopically, identifies and marks appropriate cells, and renders the correct diagnosis of each case. This job makes the final diagnosis on gynecologic samples evaluated as negative, with changes of and including moderate cervicitis. This job makes the preliminary diagnosis on all abnormal gynecologic cases going into sign-out (greater than moderate cervicitis) and all non-gynecologic cases. This job works under the general direction of a Pathologist.

Licensure, Certification, Or Registration Requirements For Hire

• Certified as a Cytotechnologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology within 6 months of employment in position
• Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Current CT (ASCP)
• Experience REQUIRED: N/A
• Experience PREFERRED: One (1) year of clinical work experience as a Cytotechnologist

Compensation Range
