Job summary

Medical Diagnostic Laboratories (MDL) is seeking a Cytotechnologist to perform specialized microscopic evaluation of gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens and provide interpretations to supervisory cytotechnologists and pathologists.

The role requires ASCP certification, a related science degree, and up to 2+ years of experience. Candidates should be able to work in a laboratory setting with attention to safety and data integrity.

Qualifications

• ASCP Board Certification is required.
• Experience with Thin-Prep Imaging System is preferred; Review Scope is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related science is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform microscopic evaluation of cellular samples and provide interpretations to supervisors.
• Correlate findings with cytotechnologists and pathologists.
• Ensure accurate data recording and timely reporting of results.
• Maintain safe handling and proper use of laboratory equipment and slides.

Cytotechnologist

Job Summary:

Medical Diagnostic Laboratories (MDL), a member of Genesis Biotechnology Group, specializes and performs Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) with a larger menu of testing available in the field of infectious disease. Our main theme of research is in the field of Gynecology, Infectious Diseases, Infectious Arthritis, Tick-borne Diseases, Mycology, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).

We are accepting applications from any applicants interested in Full-Time, Part-Time, and Per Diem Opportunities.

The Cytotechnologist performs specialized and complex testing that involves microscopic screening and evaluation of gynecological and non-gynecological specimens; provides interpretations to the Supervisory cytotechnologist and pathologists.

Essential Functions:

• Performs thorough and accurate microscopic evaluation of cellular samples using recognized criteria to make cytological interpretations.
• Correlates findings with supervisory cytotechnologist and pathologists.
• Accurately records all appropriate specimen and results data.
• Assures individual specimen turnaround times are consistent with overall laboratory expectations.
• Assures cytological activities and equipment are used and maintained safely and in accordance with laboratory procedures.
• Appropriate established laboratory techniques are used in the preparation of quality slides from cytological samples.
• Performs other similar or related duties as required or assigned.
• Assures activities are conducted in a safe manner and materials are handled according to safety guidelines.
• Assures customer privacy is maintained at all times.
• Participates as a team member and is accountable for own work responsibilities.
• Assures information is delivered in a manner that is supportive, timely and understandable.
• Initiative is demonstrated to proactively diagnose and resolve problems.
• Productive work habits are consistently displayed.
• Accuracy and quality are maintained for all activities.

Job Qualifications

General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) required

• ASCP Board Certification
• Experience with Thin-Prep Imaging System; Review Scope a plus

Education and Certifications
