Job summary

University Hospitals is seeking a Cytotechnologist to perform slide reviews of GYN and Non-GYN specimens and assist on ROSE. The role includes maintaining QA/QC programs, documenting findings in the LIMS, and following safety procedures.

A BS in biology/chemistry and ASCP CT certification are required, with preferred prior cytology experience. Candidates should demonstrate pattern recognition and manual dexterity, and be able to handle typical lab demands including PHI handling and safe

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in biological or chemical science is required.
Experience or familiarity with CLIA high-complexity testing preferred.
ASCP CT certification is required (or equiv.).

Responsibilities

Uses microscope to examine cytology specimens and identify abnormalities.
Records findings in the laboratory information system.
Supports ROSE and other rapid onsite evaluations.
Maintains QA/QC documentation and adheres to safety protocols.
Performs duties and procedures as assigned by the department.

A Brief Overview

Performs slide review of GYN and Non-GYN specimens. Assists on Rapid On-site Evaluations (ROSE). Ability to perform all Cytology Processor functions. Perform Imager maintenance and maintain QA documents. Examines and evaluates microscopic preparations of cytology specimens.

What You Will Do

Uses microscope to examine cellular samples and identify abnormalities according to departmental protocols.
Records findings in laboratory information system.
Communicates pertinent section information/issues to supervisor, manager or other appropriate individual.
Assists in documentation and maintaining effective department QA/QC programs and monitors.
Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
