White Plains Hospital is seeking a per diem Cytotechnologist for the Lab Anatomic Pathology department in White Plains, NY. You will screen gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens, assist with staining, and sign out cases with Pathologists according to schedule.

The role calls for a BS in Cytology with ASCP eligibility, 1-3 years of experience, and familiarity with the Bethesda system; NYS licensure or eligibility is required, with ThinPrep certification preferred.

Qualifications

• BS required in ASCP Registry and/or Certified Cytology School.
• 1–3 years minimum experience screening gynecological and non-gynecological specimens and fine needle aspirations.
• Familiar with Bethesda system for Cytology reporting (preferred).
• New York State Board of Clinical Laboratory Technology license required or eligible upon hire.
• ASCP certification upon hire; ThinPrep certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Screen gynecological and non-gynecological cases daily and in a timely manner.
• Assist with preparation, staining and cover slipping of cytology specimens.
• Sign out cases with the Pathologist according to schedule.
• Label all Cytology stained slides and reconcile information with requisitions.
• Process Send out samples and reports; maintain CME log and regulatory records.
• Participate in departmental activities as directed by leadership.

Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors* 2. Screens gynecological and non-gynecological cases daily and in a timely manner.* 3. Assists with preparation, staining and cover slipping of cytology specimens as needed.* 4. Assists in Cytology intra-operative or intra-procedural assessments that are scheduled with the Department in such areas as Ambulatory Surgery, Operating Room, Breast Imaging, Endoscopy, Off Site, Radiology and Radiology Department.* 5. Sign out cases with the Pathologist on (according to schedule)* 6. Labels all Cytology stained slides, compares name, number of slides, clinical information, and gross description against the Cytology requisitions.* 7. Change and clean equipment and solutions in the cytology aspiration procedure tray, keep cytology aspiration procedure supplies in tray stocked as needed.* 8. Process Send out samples and reports.* 9. Maintains all records as per regulatory agencies requirements* 10. Maintains CME log.* 11. Participates in any other departmental activities as directed by the Chief Cytotechnologist or Laboratory Director* 12.
