Job summary

Sunrise Medical Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a Cytotechnologist in Chantilly, VA to join our clinical laboratory team. The role involves examining slides, reporting findings, and supporting pathologists in diagnostic workflows.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of cytology is required.
• Cytotechnologist certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists is required.
• Thinprep Certification is required.
• Surepath Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examine prepared slides with a microscope to detect abnormalities.
• Report negative Pap Test cases and refer abnormal cases to pathologists.
• May read Non-GYN specimens and report findings for final diagnosis.
• Document total slides examined per 24-hour period.
• Document hours spent examining slides per day.
• Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
• Champion safety, compliance, and quality control.

LOCATION: 4200 B Pleasant Valley Rd, Chantilly, VA 20151

HOURS: 9:00am - 5:00pm; Monday to Friday

In This Role, You Will

• Perform a vital part of the patient care process through examining prepared slides with the microscope to detect evidence of abnormalities
• Report negative Pap Test cases and refers abnormal cases to the pathologists for review
• May read Non-GYN specimens and report findings to the pathologists for final diagnosis
• Document for each 24-hour period, the total number of slides examined or reviewed in the laboratory or for any other employer.
• Document the number of hours spent examining slides in each 24-hour period.
• Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment
• Champion safety, compliance, and quality control

All You Need Is

• Graduation from an accredited school of cytology
• Cytotechnologist certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists
• Thinprep Certification, Required
• Surepath Certification, Preferred
• Will possess critical thinking, complex problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to operate general laboratory equipment and have basic computer skills.

Bonus Points If You’ve Got

• 2+ years of laboratory training or experience
