Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology required.
• 2–3 years cytotechnologist experience required.
• Certified Medical Technologist or CT(ASCP) credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares specimens for analysis and maintains prescribed protocols.
• Maintains chain of custody and verifies identifiers.
• Signs out negative GYN slides and refers others to a pathologist as needed.
• Evaluates non-gynecological cells and classifies as negative, atypical, suspicious, non-diagnostic or positive-malignant.
• Performs HPV testing, Immunocytochemistry and other molecular techniques as required.
• Maintains laboratory quality control and regulatory compliance.
• Participates in intradepartmental rotations (gyn/non-gyn, rapid interpretations, special stains) and other duties.
