Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health seeks a Cytotechnologist for Community Medical Center's Lab CMC Anatomic Pathology. You will screen gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens, perform ROSE, and document findings to support accurate diagnoses.

You will work with pathologists and laboratory staff in a collaborative, quality-focused environment emphasizing learning and patient safety. A Bachelor's, CAHEA accreditation, and ASCP Cytotechnologist certification are required.

Qualifications

• Meet CLIA 1988 and New Jersey DOH education/experience requirements.
• Hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Graduate of a CAHEA-accredited Cytotechnology program.
• Hold Cytotechnologist certification (e.g., ASCP).
• Review any applicable grandfathering provisions per regulations.
• Previous experience with cytology screening and ROSE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Screen gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens for malignancy and other conditions.
• Document and maintain laboratory records and testing documentation per regulations.
• Collaborate with pathologists and lab personnel for timely, accurate interpretations.
• Perform Rapid On-Site Evaluation (ROSE) for FNA, EBUS, and ION procedures.
• Assess specimen adequacy during on-site procedures and communicate findings.
• Adhere to quality assurance, quality control, and compliance standards.
• Utilize LIS and documentation processes for accurate specimen tracking.
• Assist with Cytology prep activities and supervise Prep Assistants when needed.
• Maintain a professional, organized, patient-focused lab environment.
