Job summary

Fairview Health Services' M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center-East Bank Cytogenetics Lab is seeking a full-time Cytogenetics Technologist for day shift. Work schedule Mon-Fri with 8-hour shifts and every 3rd weekend plus holiday rotation; start times between 6:30 and 9:30 a.m.

A sign-on bonus is available up to $5,500. The Cytogenetics lab performs GBAND, Microarray, and FISH analyses to support inherited disease and cancer care.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate or higher degree in a related laboratory field meeting CLIA high complexity criteria.
• Eligibility for ASCP/ASCPi CG certification within 2 years.
• Preferred cytogenetics experience in G-bands, FISH, Micro Array.
• Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work under stress.

Responsibilities

• Follow guidelines to obtain specimens and prioritize work.
• Assess integrity of all specimens for testing.
• Verify correct identification of specimens before testing.
• Perform a wide variety of complex diagnostic and therapeutic testing.
• Communicate results to Medical Director/Pathologists and care team.
• Operate laboratory instrumentation and maintain equipment; document QC and maintenance.
