Job summary

Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC is seeking a Lab Support Technician to support the Cytogenetic Laboratory with a focus on routine maintenance, reagents, and sample handling. This full-time role contributes to diagnostic work that aids patient care, with a rotating Tuesday–Saturday schedule from 8:30 a.m.

to 5:00 p.m. Responsibilities include inventory maintenance, QA/QC procedures, specimen preparation, and safe handling of lab materials.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 2+ years in a clinical lab setting, or
• Associate degree with biology/chemistry coursework and 1 year of lab exp.
• Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certs with 1 year lab exp, or
• MLS program enrollment with 3 years college credits.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine instrument maintenance and records temperatures as required.
• Restocks supplies and maintains clean, organized storage areas for all materials.
• Prepares reagents and consumables; performs QA/QC procedures as assigned.
