Position Details

Looking for a FT Cytogenetic Technologist

Location: 3020 Market St

Schedule: M-F Day

Summary

Performs high-complexity tests and procedures in the Cytogenetics laboratory under the supervision of the Supervisor, including conventional cytogenetics and FISH techniques. Produces and documents accurate laboratory results for diagnosis and treatment of disease, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

1. Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures accurately, following all pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical protocols.
2. Monitor, perform, and document Quality Control, maintenance, and calibration procedures.
3. Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, taking corrective actions as needed.
4. Participate in Proficiency Testing and maintain compliance with all related policies.
5. Assist in maintaining laboratory accreditation and compliance with regulatory agencies.
6. Continuously improve personal skills and departmental functioning.
7. Collaborate effectively with supervisors, staff, and medical personnel.
8. Coordinate training of new employees and students as directed.
9. Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment.

Credentials

• CG Certification by a recognized certifying body (preferred)
• Current certification as Cytogenetic Technologist II (preferred)

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Cytogenetic Technology or related biological/chemical sciences (Required)
• Knowledge of laboratory methods, quality assurance, PC, and LIS systems (Preferred)
