HNL Lab Medicine in Allentown, PA seeks a Cytogenetics Laboratory Specialist who can perform tissue and body fluid analyses and support quality control programs. The role requires solid knowledge of cytogenetics techniques, matrix management, and ability to work independently or with team members.
Responsibilities include processing specimens, conducting FISH/CMA analyses when needed, training new staff, and participating in on-call rotations while ensuring compliance with SOPs and CLIA

Education/Experience: BS degree with a major in biological science/chemistry by meeting CLIA 88 personnel requirements AND completion of a NAACLS accredited cytogenetics education program OR two years of full time training in a cytogenetics laboratory with associate degree.
Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Math Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills: Word processing, Spreadsheets, E-mail, Laboratory Information Systems
Certification by a recognized certifying agency for clinical laboratory professionals required (ASCP, ASMT, NCA, etc).
