Job description

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for operation of the Child and Youth Services (CYS) Technology Lab in accordance with applicable regulations. Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities for program participants.
  • Creates a positive environment in CYS Technology Lab that includes appropriate materials and supplies to supplement computer software programs and internet access. Provides supervision, oversight, and accountability for program participants.
  • Ensures computer, peripherals, and software are maintained in good condition and working order. Troubleshoots CYS hardware, printers, scanners, servers and software.
  • Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques. Promotes and role models safety, fitness, health and nutrition practices.
  • Trains children/youth in use of equipment and software programs. Ensures assigned area achieves and maintains standards for DoD/Army certification and national accreditation or Army equivalent.
Conditions of Employment

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre‑employment checks in accordance with AR 215‑3, para. 2 to include a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Must have current health assessment which documents good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations IAW current Army and DoD policy including annual influenza vaccinations.
  • Satisfactory performance, successful completion of training requirements (transition and/or annual) and demonstrated on‑the‑job competency is required.
  • Failure to achieve desired training with demonstrated competence may result in separation.
  • Position requires working with computers, peripherals, software and common hand and electrical tools.
Qualifications
  • Be able to communicate in English (verbal and written)
  • Be 18 years of age at time of employment.
  • Possess and maintain ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis.
  • Possess and maintain health and freedom from communicable disease.
  • Possess knowledge and demonstrated skill in Microsoft Windows and Applications using the Internet (email, searching, web page design) and network computing.
  • Possess a professional certificate or higher related to computer science/information technology, or 24 months of experience working in the related field.

  • Certifications and education proof must be supplied at time of application.
Benefits & Allowances
  • This job is part of a pay‑banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
  • Non‑foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid.
  • This is a Regular Part‑Time position with a minimum workweek of 20 hours and is eligible for benefits/leave accrual.
  • As an added employee incentive, the Department of Defense (DoD) granted approval to extend temporary limited commissary privileges (excluding the purchase of tobacco or alcohol products) to CYS employees. This temporary approval expires 31 December 2026.
  • Regular full‑time and part‑time employees are eligible for enrollment in health and life insurance, participation in 401k and retirement plans, and paid personal time off and federal holidays.
  • NAF flexible employees, working in the United States or a U.S. citizen or spouse or child of a U.S. citizen working for a NAFI in a foreign area, are eligible to participate in the NAF 401(k) plan. Some flexible employees may also be eligible to receive health insurance.
