Join to apply for the CYP Food Service Worker role at Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR)

The purpose of the Child and Youth Program (CYP) Food Service Worker position is to perform a variety of food preparation and food service tasks for the CYP. This position is located in a Child Development Center (CDC) but may assist with food preparation for the School Age Care (SAC) Program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in food preparation, including peeling, cutting, washing vegetables and fruits, assembling sandwiches, and measuring ingredients.
  • Stocking food service carts with utensils, plates, bowls, food, and beverages.
  • Wrapping, arranging, and packaging items for children and youth.
  • Transporting food from kitchen to classrooms or activity areas.
  • Returning carts, dishes, and leftover food to the kitchen and disposing of waste.

Additional duties involve kitchen maintenance, food storage, and ensuring compliance with safety, sanitation, and security standards.

Requirements include:

  • Satisfactory completion of background checks, including fingerprint and child care checks.
  • Ability to pass a physical exam, immunizations, and maintain security clearance.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical tasks.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Ability to complete required training and maintain certifications.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of food handling, hygiene, and safety standards.
  • Understanding of basic arithmetic and diet principles.
  • Effective communication skills in English.

Education: H.S. Diploma or equivalent; a copy of diploma or transcripts must be submitted with the application.

Additional information: Must adhere to drug-free workplace policies and pass security checks as per Department of Defense regulations.
