Job description

The purpose of the Child and Youth Program (CYP) Food Service Worker position is to perform a variety of food preparation and food service tasks for the CYP.
This position is located in a Child Development Center (CDC) but may assist with food preparation for the School Age Care (SAC) Program.
Duties include various tasks related to food preparation, service, kitchen maintenance, and food storage, following established procedures and sequences.

Food Preparation and Service

Requirements include:

  • Completion of all required background checks, including fingerprint checks, Child Care check, and SCHR check.
  • Successful passing of the E-Verify employment verification.
  • Passing a pre-employment physical, providing immunization evidence, being free of communicable diseases, and obtaining necessary immunizations.
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances.
  • Completion of required training and maintenance of certifications as per DoD Child and Youth Programs standards.
  • Residency within 50 miles of 32212 at application time.
  • Male applicants must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • Participation in direct deposit pay program required.
  • Social Security Card required.
  • Starting May 7, 2025, access requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or other acceptable ID.

Qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of food handling, hygiene, and safety procedures.
  • Understanding of measuring ingredients and basic recipe construction.
  • Basic arithmetic skills for food quantity calculations.
  • Knowledge of diet principles and sanitation standards.
  • Skills to perform multiple procedures, troubleshoot food production issues, and develop standardized recipes.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written, with strong interpersonal skills.
