CYP Child and Youth Program Assistant (Multi-Level)

Job Summary

The CYP Assistant works directly with children and youth, keeping them actively engaged, well-cared for, and safe while participating in the CYP. The role involves helping children develop social skills such as making friends and conflict resolution; making healthy choices like selecting nutritious snacks and appropriate recreational activities; building self-help and school readiness skills; and exploring their environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Curriculum Development: Develops schedules and activity plans, ensures activities meet individual needs, and implements activities and special events.
  2. Environment Preparation: Prepares and maintains indoor and outdoor activity areas, arranges displays, inventories supplies, and secures resources.
  3. Interactions and Supervision: Establishes positive interactions, supervises children and youth, maintains safety, and reports any signs of abuse or neglect.
  4. Communication: Interacts professionally with parents, employees, and command personnel, providing feedback and participating in conferences.
  5. Assessment and Compliance: Observes developmental progress, participates in program evaluations, and ensures adherence to laws, policies, and accreditation standards.
  6. Additional Duties: Maintains participation data and performs other related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Complete required training and maintain certifications as per federal and state standards.
  • Pass drug testing, physical exams, immunizations, and background checks.
  • Provide proof of education and meet all suitability requirements.
Qualifications

  • Entry Level: Effective communication, following instructions, teamwork, and promoting positive relationships. 6 months of experience preferred.
